The department of Dermatology is engaged in teaching, research and patient care. Various facilities are available for both inpatient and outpatient care.

Highly specialised services include, dermatosurgery in forms of cryosurgery, electrocautery, mesh grafting , chemical peeling and hair transplantation. Prick testing and patch testing are done, routinely. An upgraded phototherapy unit and diagnostic laboratory are also available. The latter is involved in detection of fungus by skin scraping, leprosy bacilli by split skin smear and herpes infection by giemsa stains. Ninhydrin sweat test is also performed.

The department is a reputed post graduate training centre and conducts case discussions and seminars routinely.
